Two shows left.
There's an excitement in the air that's sort of like how it is the few days before school's out for the summer. Everyone, for the most part, is in a great mood. No one's sweating the small stuff because in a week we'll all be home and none of it will matter.
I feel like I've been going nonstop and it's starting to drive me a little bit crazy. I wake up, read, write, soundcheck, write, VIP, write, show, write, read, go to bed. And then repeat. That's how the last two weeks have been and I'm starting to feel like I'm living the same day over and over and over. Like Bill Murray in Groundhog's Day. The good news: I'm about eight stories in and clocking in around 26,000 words, about half of my goal. So I'm making progress.
The other good news is that once I get home, I'm going to start working on some music as well. So hopefully my day will go: wake up, read, write or music, read, bed. Things will be much more simple and hopefully more focused. It's hard to really break loose in hour or two increments. Maybe the first week I'll completely take a break and finish getting my house together or buy some furniture or something. Who knows. I'm really just trying to find an excuse to fuck off and lay around, that's really what it boils down to.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this time off to really relax and focus on some things I've been neglecting.
You know that feeling when you read a sentence and it's so good that you have to read it four or five times? That happened to me a few times in one story I read recently. You know someone's got a way with words when they can compare someone's eyes to dead flies in a bowl of milk. I love that.
Anyway, just wanted to make a quick update.
I'm plugging along and things are happening.
Almost there, baby, almost there.
